Jack Wilshere managed to get away without singing an initiation song at Bournemouth – but he wasn’t so lucky when he broke through at Arsenal.
Wilshere, currently on loan at Bournemouth, reckons he’s a good singer. But his team-mates don’t always appreciate his voice, he revealed in an exclusive video for Footballers Lives.
“I can’t play any instruments. I like to think I’m not a bad singer but apart from that I’ve not got much,” said Wilshere, who features among our eight footballers who proved they are good people too.
“I sang Stand By Me when we won the FA Cup. It didn’t go down great, but I thought I was alright.”
And when he first broke into the Arsenal first team squad in 2008, the England international had to take on the dreaded initiation, although it sounds like the then 16-year-old was able to get off lightly among the senior pros.
