Which PL clubs are best at defending a lead? Who comes back the most?

Quick Reads

Research has found which Premier League clubs are the best at holding a lead, plus which teams win the most points after going a goal down – and it’s good news for Manchester United and Chelsea and Arsenal.

Bookmaker bwin has looked into the statistics from the last 10 years, finding out who is the best and worst at protecting a lead, or overcoming a deficit.

Manchester United have gained a huge 89.8% of possible points having scored the first goal, while the Premier League’s worst at defending a lead is Bournemouth, whose points return from games in which they have scored the first goal is just 64.1%.

Apart from Chelsea and Arsenal, every team in the Premier League has lost over half the games where they have fallen behind.

While Chelsea have earned a higher percentage of points from a losing position, Arsenal are the most likely team to earn points from games they go behind in, managing to salvage at least a point from 54% of the games in which they have conceded the first goal.
