The Liga MX match between Pachuca and Chiapas over the weekend was the subject of surely the cutest pitch invasions there has ever been as not one but two animals entered the playing area.
This is serious business, folks. The two furry offenders had to be escorted off the field of play by stewards after their antics stopped play for several minutes.
The chaos began just after the hour mark when a dog – seemingly unaware that a crucial Mexican fixture was taking place -decided to test the patience of the players and officials by playfully bounding onto the pitch.
That, though, was just the beginning as his feline accomplice too fancied a better view of the action on 85 minutes. The cat wandered to a position near the corner flag for the final few minutes of the match to complete surely one of the strangest double pitch invasions of all time.
The story didn’t end there, however, as El Perro was pictured chilling in the Pachuca players’ dressing room after the match, leading to Mexican dog rescue website Echame el Perro asking about the dog’s well-being.
During an exchange over Twitter, Pachuca confirmed that the dog had found his happy ending, and that a woman had agreed to take him before the match at the Estadio Hidalgo.
Following the good news, the club informed Echame el Perro that the cat was likely still patrolling the stadium and that they would get back to the website if he was spotted.
