Benny Feilhaber opened Sporting Kansas City’s account for the MLS season in spectacular fashion during the 2-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes.
After drawing both of their opening two fixtures 0-0, Feilhaber opened Kansas’ account for the season with a swerving, dipping strike from outside of the area.
And San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham’s 89th-minute own-goal proved decisive as Florian Jungwirth pulled a goal back in stoppage time.

Speaking after the match, San Jose assistant coach John Spencer paid tribute to Feilhaber’s quality.
“World class. What a hit,” he said. “I said that to him after the game. I don’t think he’ll score too many of them in his career.
“I think it helps the way the modern soccer ball is designed now. It was almost like a knuckleball. But no. It’s a wonder goal and sometimes you get beat with them.”
More magic from the little Brazilian.
