Cardiff have been promoted to the Premier League thanks to Fulham’s defeat to Birmingham on the final day of the Championship season.
Neil Warnock’s side drew 0-0 with Reading, but a 3-1 loss for Fulham saw the Bluebirds finish second behind runaway champions Wolves.
It was a pulsating final day in the second tier, as Bolton scored two late goals to defeat Nottingham Forest and stay up, while rock-bottom Sunderland thumped Wolves 3-0.
Derby secured the final play-off spot while relegating Barnsley thanks to their 4-1 win at Pride Park, with Preston’s late winner against Burton not enough to take them into the top six, though it did send the Brewers back to League One.
In Cardiff’s televised draw with Reading though, the sun caused a moment of confusion which went unmissed by everyone in the stadium.
The away side won a throw-in, and a straight shadow down the pitch was used to restart the play from – as opposed to the touchline 10 yards away.
