Watch: Claudio Bravo saves three penalties as Chile beat Portugal

Videos

Manchester City keeper Claudio Bravo was Chile’s hero in the Confederations Cup semi-final as the South American side beat Portugal 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out.

The first 120 minutes were a fairly dull encounter until the closing stages of extra-time when Arturo Vidal’s effort hit the post and Martin Rodriguez hit the woodwork too from the resulting follow up.

And during the final few minutes of extra-time, referee Alireza Faghani decided not to give a penalty when Chile substitute Francisco Silva appeared to have been brought down in the box by West Ham defender Jose Fonte.

Despite having the opportunity to use the video assistant referees (VARs) Faghani awarded a goal kick and the match went to penalties.

Chile’s first three takers Arturo Vidal, Charles Aranguiz and Alexis Sanchez were all successful with their spot-kicks before Bravo was on hand to deny Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho and Nani.
