Watch: Ferdinand says Rashford and Woodburn can’t be compared to Owen

Rio Ferdinand has urged for caution regarding the hype surrounding Manchester United and Liverpool youngsters Marcus Rashford and Ben Woodburn.

Rashford and Woodburn are seen as two of the brightest young talents in Britain having burst onto the scene over the last two years for both club and country.

England striker Rashford is now an established figure at Manchester United, while Woodburn has already broken a number of Michael Owen‘s Liverpool records.

Ferdinand, however, says the duo simply cannot be compared to his former United and England team-mate until they have proven themselves over a number of years.

Owen, whose public perception often suffers from recency bias, had already won two Golden Boots by the time he was Rashford’s age, and Ferdinand questions whether even Kylian Mbappe can compare to the striker.
