Former Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches took a leaf out of David Beckham’s book this weekend by scoring a stunning goal from his own half in Napoli’s pre-season victory over Trento.
Chiriches was one of the players Spurs signed with the funds raised from the world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
The Romania international spent two seasons at White Hart Lane, making 41 appearances and scoring two goals – although none of which were quite as spectacular as this effort.

The 27-year-old did not particularly impress in north London, meaning few eyebrows were raised when the defender left for Serie A in 2015.
Chiriches has been equally in and out of the Napoli starting XI, making 33 appearances in all competitions over two seasons, although he was part of the squad which finished runners-up in Serie A in 2015-16.
