Watch: Saul Niguez’s brilliant hat-trick for Spain Under-21s against Italy

Videos

Atletico Madrid starlet Saul Niguez scored a wonderful hat-trick as Spain Under-21s beat their Italian counterparts 3-1 in the semi-finals of the European Championships.

Spain will now face Germany in the final, after Stefan Kuntz’s side beat England on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

La Roja’s junior side have attracted plenty of admirers already in the tournament and cut loose in the second half after the first 45 minutes ended goalless.

Saul opened the scoring seven minutes after half-time, firing home from just inside the area, though the best was yet to come.

Roberto Gagliardini was sent off for a second bookable offence just five minutes later, but Italy still managed to equalise through highly-rated Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi.

It was at this point Saul stole the show, restoring Spain’s lead with a stunning drive from long range.

And with 17 minutes remaining, the 22-year-old completed his hat-trick with a tidy finish from Marco Asensio’s cut back.

According to The Daily Telegraph’s Jason Burt, Saul could have been a Manchester United player three years ago, but the Red Devils rejected the chance to sign the talented attacking midfielder.
