Chelsea are celebrating winning their fifth Premier League title since being taken over by Roman Abramovich in 2003.
Chelsea’s excellence this season can be underlined by a number of impressive statistics as Abramovich continues to see a return on his huge investment.
Plenty of players – and managers – have come and gone since he took control of the club, but during that period Chelsea have won more trophies than any other English team, with four FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League and one Europa League also added to their cabinet.
And to emphasise just how far the Blues have come under Abramovich, we’ve revisited the first team to take the field in a competitive match after his takeover.
In the final match before his buyout, Chelsea famously beat Liverpool 2-1 to secure Champions League football, and the opening fixture of the following season was also against the Reds, with the Londoners triumphing by the same scoreline.
