Arsenal are in title winning form

10 extraordinary stats that show Arsenal are better placed than last year to win the Premier League title

Arsenal are in tremendous form right now and we have gathered 10 stats that prove the Gunners are better placed than last year to win the Premier League title.

As things stand, Mikel Arteta’s men are just two points adrift of the top of the table. They also boast a two point lead over Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s men do have a game in hand.

The Gunners had a good stab at the title last season, but ultimately fell short by four points. However, the stats would suggest that they have a better chance of going all the way this time around.

Since the start of 2024, Arsenal have looked absolutely relentless as they have taken a maximum of 15 points from their last five league matches.

Their recent triumphs against West Ham and Burnley in particular have been absolutely emphatic as the Gunners have scored 11 goals in their last two league matches.

“Individually and collectively, the purpose they are playing with, the form the players are in, even at 3-0 4-0 they want more,” Arteta told BBC Sport following their recent triumph against Burnley.

“The way they track back at 96 minutes tells you how they are feeling. It’s about maintaining momentum now. We are generating competition within the squad. They are a joy to work with, the way they train every day and apply themselves, and how they want to improve.

“At the moment all we can do is win our games and after our big two wins away from home we have a tough one in the Champions League at Porto.

“I hope we can do it [win the title] because we are there but it is about consistency and you see the standards of the other teams. We want it, that’s for sure.”

The Gunners are in red-hot form right now and we have gathered 10 stats that prove they are better placed than last year to win the Premier League title.

– Arteta’s side have faced the fewest amount of shots on target in the Premier League. In 25 matches, they’ve only faced 59 shots on target so far. Funnily enough, the side that has faced the fewest amount of shots on target have won the league in all of the previous five seasons.

– Of the shots that Arsenal face, only 26.6 per cent of them are on target which is the best record in the league. For context, 39.5 per cent of the shots they faced last season were on target.

– In their last five league matches, Arsenal haven’t conceded an xG higher than 0.5 – further illustrating their defensive sturdiness.

– Throughout the entire campaign so far, Arteta’s side have only faced an xG of 18 which is the lowest in the league. Per 90, they only face 0.72 xG on average.

– The Gunners have accumulated more points against the ‘big six’ than any other side this season. They are currently averaging two points per game in head-to-head matches against the big six which is some going. For context, they averaged 1.9 PPG in these fixtures last season.
