Man Utd & Arsenal wonderkids star among the top 10 Premier League 2 scorers of 2023-24

The Premier League 2 is teeming with upcoming stars and youngsters from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have been among the most prolific players this season.

Youngsters get their chance to hone their skills in the Premier League 2 and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these names in the big leagues over the next few years.

We’ve taken a closer look at the Premier League 2 and have found the 10 top scorers throughout 2023-24 so far.

Note: when players are tied on the same number of goals, we have ranked them by their minutes per goal ratio.

10. Ronnie Stutter (Chelsea) – 6 goals

Chelsea picked up Stutter from the West Ham academy in 2019 and he’s since been developing well at Stamford Bridge. The 18-year-old has scored six goals this season and is already in and around the first team.

Mauricio Pochettino included Stutter in Chelsea’s match-day squad against Bournemouth back in September. He’s definitely one to keep an eye out for.

9. Will Lankshear (Tottenham) – 6 goals

Tottenham reportedly paid around £2million to prize Lankshear away from Sheffield United last year. That’s quite the transfer fee for someone who is yet to play a single minute of senior football.

Although, Lankshear’s quality is obvious to see and the 18-year-old has impressed in the Premier League 2 this season with six goals in just 512 minutes.

8. Dominic Ballard (Southampton) – 6 goals

Despite no longer having the status of a Premier League club, the Southampton academy is still home to some top talents. Ballard scored six goals in just three appearances for the under-21s before he was loaned out to Reading in League One.

The teenage forward has made a good impression while being out on loan too with five strikes in 12 appearances.

7. Ademola Ola-Adebomi (Crystal Palace) – 7 goals

Ola-Adebomi stands at 6ft 3in and looks like a star in the making for Crystal Palace. The towering forward has scored seven goals in 10 appearances and he was recently named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November.

“I mean, it’s crazy to be honest. I was surprised, you could say, because it’s been a good month,” Ola-Adebomi said upon receiving the award.

“It’s been good to be in and amongst the goals and getting assists this season. I’m just, as I said, happy to contribute and just do well for the team. I’m just trying to win as many games as possible and just play well for the team.”

6. Joe Hugill (Manchester United) – 7 goals

The 20-year-old has been in and around the senior squad under Erik ten Hag, but he is yet to be handed his debut. Given his prolific form of late, it can’t be long until he finally gets that chance.

Hugill is currently averaging a goal every 103.8 minutes in the Premier League 2 and is a real nuisance for opposition defenders.

5. Ken Aboh (Norwich City) – 7 goals

Norwich have made some huge profits on their academy players over the years and they seemingly have another star on their hands in Aboh. The 19-year-old already has seven goals this season and looks like an exciting prospect.

4. Khayon Edwards (Arsenal) – 7 goals

Edwards made the bench for Arsenal in the Europa League last season, but he is yet to make a senior appearance. Given his impressive record in the Premier League 2, a loan move could be the next stage in his development.

During an interview with The Beautiful Game Podcast, Edwards stated his desire to go out on loan at some point: “I think that’s definitely in my plan to go on loan.

“Because obviously I’m 20 in September so I want to start seeing men’s football. If it suits me and everything is right within the club, I wouldn’t mind [going on loan abroad].”

3. Jude Soonsup-Bell (Tottenham) – 7 goals

Tottenham managed to prize the 19-year-old away from Chelsea in the summer and he’s already been making waves in north London.

2. Mark O’Mahony (Brighton) – 8 goals

The Brighton scouting network is one of the best in the business and it seems as if they have found themselves another gem here. O’Mahony was picked up from Cork City earlier this year and he’s already made quite the impression.

The 18-year-old is averaging a goal every 97 minutes in the Premier League 2 and already looks like a star in the making.

1. Callum Marshall (West Ham) – 16 goals

The Hammers have scored more goals in the Premier League 2 than any other side and it’s largely thanks to Marshall. In total, West Ham’s U21s have scored 32 goals and the 19-year-old forward has been responsible for half of them.

Marshall has already been capped three times by Northern Ireland and his fellow countryman Dion Charles thinks the future is bright for the West Ham youngster.

“The future’s bright for Callum, if he gets his head down and works hard like he has been doing,” Charles explained.

“Who knows where he’s going to reach? He’s playing really well at West Ham, scoring against first team players from professional teams. He has the talent and ability to go very far and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.”
