The 10 players with the most goals & assists in Europe in 2023: Kane, Mbappe, Salah…
As 2023 draws to a close, we’ve checked out the 10 players with the most goal contributions throughout the calendar year and plenty of familiar faces make an appearance.
It does seem strange not seeing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi making the cut, but stars from Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG all make an appearance on the list.
Using data from Transfermarkt, we have collected the 10 players with the most goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues throughout 2023.
10. Victor Osimhen – 30 (24 goals + 6 assists)
The Nigerian forward fired Napoli to the title last season and despite missing a chunk of this campaign through injury, he still makes this list with 30 goal contributions in total.
Given his prolific record in Italy, Osimhen is probably one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe right now and it’s no surprise the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have been sniffing around.
9. Ollie Watkins – 32 (21 goals + 11 assists)
Watkins has looked like a player reborn under Unai Emery. The 27-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season and will be crucial to Aston Villa’s top four hopes.
“With Ollie, we need him to run in behind, hold up the ball, and then get into the box and score goals,” Emery told Sky Sports.
“But even when Ollie is not scoring goals, he is always committed to doing every task, always doing his work. Then, his responsibility is to score goals if he can.”

8. Domenico Berardi – 33 (20 goals + 13 assists)
The Sassuolo winger has been in fine form of late with seven goal contributions in his last six matches. Berardi has been able to showcase that sort of form throughout the calendar year too with an impressive 33 goal contributions in total.
=6. Antoine Griezmann – 34 (21 goals + 13 assists)
Griezmann has been ageing like a fine wine as the Atletico Madrid forward is currently playing some of the best football of his entire career.
The 32-year-old has been Atletico’s main source of goals and creativity throughout 2023 and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. He’s managed to average a goal contribution every 89.4 minutes in 2023 which is some going.
=6. Lois Openda – 34 (25 goals + 9 assists)
Our friends over at TEAMtalk recently revealed that Manchester United are interested in signing the RB Leipzig forward next year. Given his prolific form in 2023, it’s no surprise to see why.
Openda has already scored 15 goals since making the switch to RB Leipzig in the summer and he now ranks alongside Europe’s top forwards.
5. Lautaro Martinez – 36 (29 goals + 7 assists)
Inter have been absolutely relentless in the first half of the season as they have collected 41 points from just 16 matches. They have scored more goals than any other Serie A side this season and it’s largely thanks to the brilliance of Martinez.
The 26-year-old leads the race for the Golden Boot in Italy with 15 goals in 16 outings so far. If he continues at his current trajectory, Martinez is in store for his most prolific season yet.

=3. Mohamed Salah – 39 (23 goals + 16 assists)
Liverpool are well and truly in the title race this season and Salah has been as prolific as ever throughout the year so far. Along with his impressive goal output, Salah has also been a great creative outlet for the Reds.
“He has been the man for us for a long time now, but he is growing in the role he has for us in football and maybe in general to show that at the top level it is nice to enjoy the moment and then you go again,” Jurgen Klopp told reporters when discussing Salah.
“Mo doesn’t behave like (he is 31) at all. Off the pitch he behaves is a grown man, beyond that he is still a young player. He is top fit, I think if we were to scan him the majority of the bones are aged 19 or 20! He just keeps himself in such good shape.”
=3. Erling Haaland – 39 (29 goals + 10 assists)
After breaking all sorts of goalscoring records last season, Haaland looks set to do it all over again this time. This season in the Premier League he has averaged a goal involvement every 72 minutes which is baffling consistency.
While the Manchester City man is predominately known for his goalscoring prowess, his creative numbers haven’t been too shabby this season either with 10 assists to his name.
2. Kylian Mbappe – 41 (34 goals + 7 assists)
Without the likes of Messi and Neymar, Mbappe has taken centre stage at the Parc des Princes this season. Unsurprisingly, his numbers have been absolutely off the charts once again.
The 25-year-old has won five consecutive Ligue 1 Golden Boot awards and he is currently on track to win his sixth.

1. Harry Kane – 45 (38 goals + 7 assists)
Who else? Since making the switch to Bayern Munich, Kane has been in the form of his life with 25 goals in his first 22 appearances for the German club.
If he manages to maintain the same consistency from now until the end of the season, he will finish the 2023-24 campaign with 48 goals which would be a new Bundesliga record.
