11 things we loved this weekend: Cole, Rashford, Alderweireld & more

On a weekend when footballers became an easy target for criticism, a number of players showed they were doing plenty to help those in need.
Meanwhile, we saw an excellent example of homeschooling and a bunch of idiots from Leeds playing Championship Manager for 24 hours straight.
We’ve rounded up some of the best stories and clips we saw this weekend.

Some productive homeschooling has gone on here.

Joe Cole
Joe Cole and his wife have set up a charity. 300k raised.
– Bought 50 3D printers to print thousands of medical visors for frontline NHS staff.
– Sent nutritious food direct to hospital staff.
– providing childcare to NHS staff
– offering therapy to NHS staff
What a guy ππ

Joe Cole, again
Rob feels incredibly smug about picking him in his 2000s Premier League Draft Dream Team now.
My old man – a lifelong Chelsea fan – is currently under quarantine because he has COPD. After hearing about it, Joe Cole called him and chatted for ages to cheer him up. Absolutely made up. What a top fella. pic.twitter.com/lPN2iySqUk

The Square Ball
Sure, they raised over Β£12,000 for Leeds foodbanks by playing Championship Manager for 24 consecutive hours. And sure, they got actual celebrity Jon Richardson in from his garden pub, The Dog and Bastard.
But what we’re most impressed about is Michael Normanton wearing his suit for the play-off final. Hero.
Over 1000 people tuned in to see the @TheSquareBall lads defy the odds and win a playoff final at Wembley. Those who stayed on after the celebrations got to see @RonJichardson wearing his @LUFC flag to celebrate promotion pic.twitter.com/9cLioJvOgZ

Paolo Di Canio
Admire the fact he’s still rocking the short shorts and listen to him speak sense.
Some wise words from a legend! βοΈ#StayHomeSaveLives pic.twitter.com/6s8qppAzFE

Josh & Jacob Murphy
It’s easy to give footballers a hard time right now, but plenty are doing their bit.
Interviewed Jacob + Josh Murphy when they played against each other in PL + they were properly nice lads. Now theyβre out delivering prescriptions to elderly residents in Norfolk.

Toby Alderweireld
As we were saying.

Marcus Rashford
It’s nice to be important, but it’s important to be nice.
Big appreciation tweet to this guy after his gesture today…. @MarcusRashford

Dejan Stankovic
We’ve been watching this an awful lot on loop.
