13 things we loved this week: Salah, Milner, Griezmann, Buffon & more
England’s World Cup squad announcement got everyone talking this week, while a couple of former Manchester United players hooked up on Instagram and Liverpool‘s star striker earned a spot in the British Museum.
Gareth Southgate’s squad was the main event in the week following the conclusion of the Premier League season, with one player sending fans into a spin and another the subject of a wonderfully ridiculous stat.
We’ve taken a look at the best bits from a week which also included the Europa League final and the end of an era for a legend of the game.
Mo Salah
After his incredible season, Salah has been dedicated a space in the British Museum alongside their ancient Egyptian artefacts.
We’ve made an exciting new acquisition! To celebrate Egyptian footballing star @MoSalah being top scorer in the Premier League this season, we’ll be displaying his boots alongside objects from ancient Egypt in the run up to the Champions League final ⚽️🏆 pic.twitter.com/DBZDW5Q6kD

James Milner
He’s been at it again on Twitter. We’d have loved him more if he’d let himself get picked in that England squad though.
It’s that logo again 🙄 #onlyjustgotitoff #staythereball#duckingpracticeafterrunning pic.twitter.com/2S1vANoww4

Marcus Rashford
Someone who is in the squad, Rashford was quick to remember his roots after the announcement with this heartwarming tweet.
After years of you standing on the touch line in the cold and rain, Mum we're off to the World Cup! 🦁🦁🦁 pic.twitter.com/JOCj5oBCtN

Leon Bailey
Posting this Instagram picture half an hour before the England squad was announced, the Bayer Leverkusen winger – who isn’t actually eligible to represent England – sent Twitter into meltdown when people took this caption to mean he would be in the squad. Turns out he just got a new tattoo.
Ashley Young
This is the kind of sh*t we live for.
Ashley Young is the first player called Young to be the oldest player in a World Cup squad since Choi Young-il in 1998 #young #notthatyoung

Hiram Boateng
Former Crystal Palace youngster Boateng scored this bloody good goal in Exeter’s play-off semi-final against Lincoln on Thursday.
Antoine Griezmann
Dinks are just the best, aren’t they?
Clinton N’Jie
From Griezmann’s brilliance to…erm, this.

Fulham
An interesting way to vent your anger.
“Grrr I’m so angry, I’ll hit the fence with my clapper in disgust!” pic.twitter.com/QzXBrGfYcP

❌ Wissam Ben Yedder.
❌ Alexandre Lacazette.
❌ Adrien Rabiot.
❌ Aymeric Laporte.

The BBC
Lineker and co. have really outdone themselves with their announcement of the team of pundits heading to Russia this summer.

Patrice Evra and Dimitar Berbatov
This joint Instagram live between the two former Manchester United team-mates was brilliant.
🗣 @Evra: “I call you, you don’t call me back because you don’t pay your bill.” 😅
🗣 Berbatov: “Let me show you something.” 👀
🗣 @Evra: “When I die, I want to reborn as Dimitar Berbatov. He’s the king of Bulgaria.” 🤣

Gianluigi Buffon
The great man is leaving Juventus, and fair play to him for apologising to Michael Oliver following the penalty incident in Juve’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
💬 Buffon on Michael Oliver…
"I was sorry to have 'offended' him because at the end of the day he is a human being who does a very difficult job. If I'd seen him two days later, I'd have hugged him & apologised, but he could've been a bit calmer in such an important game" pic.twitter.com/mOWLjXbGvp
