13 things we loved this weekend: Aubameyang, Doherty, Evra, Zaha

Quick Reads

While 2019-20 may have only just finished, English football’s 2020-21 campaign began this weekend as Arsenal beat Liverpool in the traditional Community Shield curtain raiser.

Elsewhere, some brilliant, and some not so brilliant, goals were scored in pre-season friendlies, while Santi Cazorla continues to be absolutely bloody brilliant.

We’ve rounded up the best of the action on and off the pitch.

Rory McKenzie

Turns out Leo Messi has joined Kilmarnock.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

So, so good.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, again

He seems like a really good guy too.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang – no, really

Alright, just admit it: we love him.

Dani Ceballos

You’ll have to watch this with the sound on. You can take the boy out of Arsenal…

Matt Doherty

On the topic of Arsenal – bit awkward, this.

Santi Cazorla

He’s still got it. He always will.

Patrice Evra

We feel sorry for the lad who turned up to play right wing and found himself lining up against the former Manchester United hero.

Wilfried Zaha

He makes football look far too easy.

They make football look quite difficult.

Caglar Soyuncu

Things we didn’t expect to see this weekend.

Martin Braithwaite

The brass balls of the man, you can only admire it.

Eduardo Camavinga

We’re wary of hyping up young players too much, but then he goes and does stuff like this.
