13 things we loved this weekend: Higuain, Messi, Neymar, Lacazette…
Arsenal strikers past and present scored brilliant goals over the weekend – as did plenty of other players around Europe.
Liverpool made it six wins out of six to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League as Chelsea dropped points for the first time, while Manchester City kept up the pace with a statement win at Cardiff City.
Across Europe, meanwhile, there was some sort of goal of the weekend competition going on nobody had told us about.
Gonzalo Higuain
The very definition of making something difficult look easy.
Steven Berghuis
We definitely didn’t love this, but you just have to watch it.
Lionel Messi
This would have been a decent goal. And don’t worry, he scored later.
Cristhian Stuani
Two goals against Barcelona at the Nou Camp, including this. Woof.
Alexandre Lacazette
It’s actually remarkably hard to stop watching this.

John McGinn
If for some inexcusable reason you haven’t seen this yet, you’d better sit down.

Rui Patricio
This gets better after every replay.
Neymar
The four stewards probably weren’t necessary.
Angel Di Maria
The phrase ‘sweet as a nut’ was invented for this goal.
Real Madrid
Liverpool fans won’t want to watch it, but this footage of Real Madrid’s players before and after their Champions League final is pretty cool.

Kylian Mbappé
Game recognises game.

Watford
The club that can do nothing wrong right now.
It's not a lot, but this has probably made these young kids' day.

Gervinho
He scored a goal that was such a beautiful, mesmeric mess that Tom Victor wrote 1000 words about it.
