13 things we loved this weekend: Milner, Zlatan, Payet, Ronaldo & more

A host of Premier League stars of the past caught our eye this weekend – including former favourites from Manchester United and West Ham, plus current Liverpool and Arsenal heroes.
Domestic football returned after the international break as Liverpool laid down a marker in the title race, while there were a number of stunning goals around the world.
We’ve rounded up the best of the action on and off the pitch.
Dimitri Payet
He’s a rockstar. And he’s here to steal your soul.
Cristiano Ronaldo
The headlines are all about Ronaldo getting off the mark for Juventus, but we’re more impressed by Gian Marco Ferrari’s header against his own post.
Florian Thauvin
Imagine if Newcastle could sign a player like this…oh.
Andriy Yarmolenko
Anything Thauvin can do, Yarmolenko can do…well, not quite better, but still decent, y’know?
Wayne Rooney
What an impact he’s having at DC United.
James Milner
Still making us question everything we were told about football.
Maximiilian Eggestein
He must have a foot like a traction engine.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
A very Zlatan goal, and a very Zlatan comment afterwards. “I’m happy for Toronto because they’ll be remembered as my 500th victim,” he told TSN.
Mohamed Mady Camara
This is getting silly now.
Memphis Depay
We actually love him for this.
Wayne Rooney on Memphis Depay: “He came on at Stoke away and messed up for their goal. So LVG made him play for the reserves the next day. I said, 'Just don't come in with your fancy stuff’. He turned up in his Rolls-Royce, wearing a leather jacket and a cowboy hat.” pic.twitter.com/bp5BOduJN5

Kevin Beattie
The Ipswich Town legend sadly passed away this weekend. Read this passage from Sir Bobby Robson’s book to understand just how highly regarded Beattie was.
Strong memories of Sir Bobby Robson talking about Kevin Beattie when he worked on his book. This says it all… pic.twitter.com/o3N9XtG7O2

Olga & Vera
A lovely touch from Manchester City, and incredible loyalty from these two sisters.
My wife’s Auntie Olga (98) and her sister Vera (102) are mascots for Man City today. Been season ticket holders for 85 years… #mascot #ManCity pic.twitter.com/0aIF7fZB9B
