17 things we loved this weekend: Phillips, Lukaku, Pogba, Mount & Kubo

Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland put everything else into perspective over the weekend.

Fortunately, Eriksen is now in a stable condition in hospital and that brilliant news trumps everything else that took place on the pitch.

There was only one place to start when rounding up the weekend, with some of the most heart-warming reactions and support as Eriksen continues his recovery.

Andy Robertson

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

Finland

A brilliant gesture from the Finland team after the game restarted.

These fans

An incredibly moving moment.

This car

More of this, please.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling’s first major tournament goal came just a stone’s throw from where he was brought up.

Jude Bellingham

What were you doing at 17? Actually don’t answer that…

Mason Mount

Mount has gone from scapegoat to key player for England.

Andriy Yarmolenko

We’ve watched this on a loop all morning.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku’s critics seem to have gone pretty quiet recently.

Colombia

We’re now supporting Colombia at the Copa America.

Frank Lampard

From laughter to a straight face in a matter of seconds. Classic Lampard.

Kalvin Phillips

Our Leeds-supporting editor is feeling very proud this morning.

Paul Pogba

He makes this look so easy.

Takefusa Kubo

You don’t see a quadruple nutmeg goal very often.

Goran Pandev

The 37-year-old even marked the appearance with a goal.

This fan

We’ve all done it.

This miss

It’s surely easier to score.
