21 things we loved this weekend: Odegaard, Kane, Diaz, Alba and more

All eyes were on Manchester United over the weekend as they suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat away to Brighton.
There was also plenty of drama in the English Football League and Porto scored a dramatic late winner against Benfica to seal their 30th league title.
We’ve rounded up the best of the action on and off the field.
Martin Odegaard
Odegaard continues to summon the spirit of Dennis Bergkamp.

Granit Xhaka
Xhaka has clearly been spending a lot of time with Odegaard.

Son Heung-min
A fantastic achievement from the Tottenham forward.

Harry Kane

Jordi Alba
Not a bad way to seal Barcelona’s Champions League qualification.
What a SPECTACULAR winner for Barca last night! 😱😱

Luis Diaz
Dia could finish the 2021-22 season with six trophies. Yes, really.
Luis Díaz is the first player to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga title while playing an English Premier League game. 😉 https://t.co/3b1nX4kRjm

Charlie Adam
A couple of weeks after the greatest dive of the season. Adam’s spoiling us.
Excellent from Charlie Adam: the dribble, the turn, the cross with his weaker foot across the six yard box.
Just one slight issue…

Harry Cornick
A goal so cheeky it caught out the match director.
😳 "EXTRAORDINARY SCENES!"
Look away Ørjan Nyland…It's a gift for #LTFC and Harry Cornick gives his side the lead just before half-time! 💥 pic.twitter.com/6daqgMPnCh

Domenico Criscito
He was in tears after a costly pen miss last week. Scenes.
Tears are flowing in Genoa! 🥹
He missed a stoppage-time penalty at the weekend, but this time Domenico Criscito makes no mistake.
Two goals in the final few minutes to defeat Juventus and remain with a chance of survival. pic.twitter.com/3Ulp5lFbmy

Probably the most jaw-dropping final day promotion of all time. No wonder the Rovers fans reacted like this…

Jordan Pickford
Another brilliant save from England’s number one.
Goncalo Paciencia
Pick that one out.
Alan Sonora
The one-step run-up. Absolutely delightful stuff from the Independiente man.
A 23-year-old American is wearing the #10 for one of the biggest clubs in Argentina and has scored in 3 of his last 5 matches.

*makes ball gesture to referee*
Perhaps the worst tackle of 2022. Got a yellow card. (A 2nd – funny he doesn’t seem that kind of player) pic.twitter.com/u1drnVBQma
