Alexis Mac Allister is perfect for Liverpool’s midfield – stats prove it
Alexis Mac Allister is a primary transfer target for Liverpool this summer, but would he represent an upgrade on the midfielders currently at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal? We’ve crunched the numbers to find out.
The Brighton midfielder has gone from strength to strength this season and it’s no wonder a club like Liverpool is interested. The World Cup winner can play in a variety of roles and would be of use to a manager like Klopp.
The 24-year-old is into double figures for goals this season and has regularly lit things up on the south coast. He is also at the perfect age to make the next step in his career.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest details with Liverpool’s chase for Mac Allister as the midfielder is reportedly tempted by the move.
“They presented the project, presented the financial proposal. Now it’s up to Mac Allister; he’s tempted. Liverpool are advancing but it’s not a done deal,” Romano said on YouTube.
“So it’s not as if Mac Allister and Liverpool have agreed everything and now the deal is completed. We have to wait on that side, for sure, Liverpool are the frontrunners.”
This has to be seen as good news for Liverpool fans. While plenty of other clubs have been linked with the midfielder, the Reds are seemingly in pole position to land his signature.
His arrival will be especially useful with the likes of Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to depart in the summer.
Mac Allister’s advisor and uncle, Patricio Mac Allister recently spoke with Transfer Room to provide the latest update on the 24-year-old ahead of the summer.
“We won’t talk to other clubs until the end of the season, that’s our position. He wants to reach Europe with Brighton and then he’ll evaluate the best option for him”, he said.
But how do Mac Allister’s 2022-23 stats compare to Liverpool’s current set of midfielders? We’ve compared his numbers with the corresponding Premier League digits of Liverpool’s most-used midfielders to answer that very question…
