Comparing Alexander Isak’s 21-22 stats with Arsenal’s forwards

It’s common knowledge that Arsenal are desperately trying to sign a striker. Their latest target is reportedly Real Sociedad frontman Alexander Isak.

Centre-forward appears to be a priority for the Gunners, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract in the summer and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang frozen out by Mikel Arteta.

After being gazumped by Juventus for Dusan Vlahovic, Arteta has turned his attention to Isak and the 22-year-old Sweden international is highly regarded by a number of observers.

Here’s how Isak’s stats in La Liga this season compare to the corresponding Premier League output of Arsenal’s current forwards – Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriel Martinelli.

Note: we’ve not included Eddie Nketiah or Folarin Balogun due to a lack of league minutes, while we’ve left out the Gunners’ top two goalscorers Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, who we’re classing as attacking midfielders.
