Comparing Anthony Martial’s Man Utd stats under Mourinho and Solskjaer
After falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho, Anthony Martial has become a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side.
Martial was publicly criticised by Mourinho and found himself in and out of the side but now looks back to his best.
We’ve compared some of the France international’s stats under Solskjaer to those he recorded under Mourinho at United to see where he has improved.
Martial’s record under Mourinho
Games: 106
Starts: 68
Sub appearances: 38
Goals: 27
Assists: 17
Minutes per goal: 226.5
Minutes per goal or assist: 139

Martial’s record under Solskjaer
Games: 53
Starts: 42
Sub appearances: 11
Goals: 20
Assists: 8
Minutes per goal: 179.8
Minutes per goal or assist: 128.3
As the stats show, Martial is scoring on a much more regular basis under Solskjaer and is more productive altogether.
While his assist rate was higher under Mourinho, that is likely to have been because he was generally deployed out wide rather than his preferred centre-forward position.
