Comparing Antonio Rudiger’s 2021-22 stats with Man Utd’s current CBs
Ralf Rangnick will want to put his own stamp on his Manchester United squad when the January transfer window opens – and Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger has emerged as a surprise target for United’s interim boss.
Rudiger has been in brilliant form for Chelsea since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, playing almost every game under the German coach and helping the Blues to the Champions League.
But Rudiger is currently in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, so could leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, and has been linked with a host of European clubs.
United believe that Rangnick, who has worked with Rudiger’s agent and half brother Sahr Senesie, could help sway the defender to Old Trafford.
But would Rudiger represent a significant improvement on the option Rangnick already has at his disposal?
We’ve taken a look at Rudiger’s 2021-22 Premier League stats and compared them with United’s current centre-back options to see whether he would improve the United backline.
