Comparing Bruno Fernandes’ record with Scholes, Keane and Pogba’s

Bruno Fernandes reached another Manchester United landmark during their League Cup victory over Nottingham Forest, which got us thinking about his club record stacks up against the likes of Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Paul Pogba.

Fernandes scored United’s third in their 3-0 success at the City Ground, putting them on the verge of reaching next month’s final at Wembley.

And it also meant the Portugal international reached 100 goal involvements (goals and assists) in a United shirt, a tally he’s reached in 155 appearances.

Signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2020, Fernandes has been an excellent servant for United over the past three years and is widely considered one of the club’s most important players.

Speaking ahead of United’s Premier League match at Arsenal, Erik ten Hag told reporters: “A few weeks ago he [Bruno Fernandes] was criticised for his performance.

“I told him to stay calm, that the goals will come and to keep doing what he knows how to do, because it’s important for the team and now he’s on two goals in two games.

“I am convinced that if we continue this collective process he will score more. But the basis is always the skills he has.

“And there are not many players who are as good in transition as Bruno [Fernandes].”
