Comparing Bruno Guimaraes’ 2020-21 stats to Arsenal’s current midfielders

After a difficult 2020-21 season, Arsenal are looking to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad in the summer transfer window and reports suggest they are targeting Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes moved to France in January 2020 from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense and has developed well in the subsequent season and a half, playing in the Champions League and helping Lyon to a fourth-place finish in 2020-21.

Globoesporte are reporting that the Gunners are preparing to make a £26million bid for the 23-year-old, who is currently playing for Brazil at the Olympics. But what would he bring to the Arsenal side?

We’ve compared his Ligue 1 stats from the 2020-21 season to those of Arsenal’s current central midfielders in the Premier League.

Note: we’ve only included Joe Willock’s numbers from his loan spell at Newcastle and new signing Albert Sambi Lokonga’s stats are from his 2020-21 league campaign with Anderlecht.
