Comparing Bruno Guimaraes’ stats with Arsenal’s current midfielders

Arsenal are enjoying a great run of form over recent weeks and will enter 2022 in the Champions League places – but that hasn’t stopped rumours that Mikel Arteta wishes to strengthen his squad.

One of the players linked with a move to the Emirates is Lyon’s Brazil international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. According to Brazilian outlet Globo, the Ligue 1 side are set to demand £38million for their player and Arsenal are ready to stump up the money.

Guimaraes moved to Lyon from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense in 2020 and has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League.

He would certainly add something different to Arsenal’s midfield, with greater mobility and thrust than either Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey.

But how does he measure up to the options already at Mikel Arteta’s disposal? We’ve compared Guimaraes’ Ligue 1 stats to those of Arsenal’s current set of midfielders.

Note: stats are taken only from Premier League games and only players who’ve played over 250 minutes have been included.
