Comparing Christopher Nkunku’s stats to Man Utd’s current forwards

Manchester United are looking to bolster their attacking options and have now been linked with RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

According to ESPN, United have added Nkunku to their list of summer transfer targets after interim manager Ralf Rangnick urged them to step up their interest in the 24-year-old

He has already impressed in England this season, scoring a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League group stages.

While Nkunku has mainly featured in the No.10 position for Leipzig, he can also play on both wings or through the middle.

“We have spoken to Christopher a lot about playing on the counter, and also what he needs to do to play as a striker, a No.10 and on both wings,” former Leipzig manager Jesse Marsch said in September 2021.

“Christopher has no weaknesses. He is young and still wants a lot more. It’s always a good thing when a young player listens to the things we say and also wants to implement them.

“Working with him is a lot of fun as he is really intelligent and has a lot of potential.”

We’ve compared Nkunku’s 2021-22 Bundesliga stats to the corresponding Premier League output of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo to see how he stacks up United’s existing options.

Note: we’ve not included Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial or Jesse Lingard due to a lack of Premier League appearances this season.
