Manchester City's Ferran Torres celebrates scoring his side's second goal of the game during the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester on December 26, 2020.

Comparing Ferran Torres’ 2020-21 stats to Barcelona’s current forwards

Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester City forward Ferran Torres as their first major transfer target of the Xavi era.

According to reports from Spain, the cash-strapped Catalan club have reportedly agreed a deal with Torres, who has informed Pep Guardiola of his desire to move to Camp Nou. Finding the €70million it would take to complete a deal may prove more difficult, however.

The 21-year-old rising star has scored 12 goals in 22 appearances for Spain, but how does his club record compare to the forward options currently at Xavi’s disposal?

Torres has been sidelined since the October international break, limiting his Premier League minutes this season, so we’ve gone back to 2020-21 to see how his statistics stack up against Memphis Depay at Lyon, Luuk de Jong at Sevilla, Sergio Aguero at City, and Martin Braithwaite, Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele, all of whom were already at Barcelona.

Note: we’ve included Aguero in spite of the rumours of his retirement, with no official announcement made at the time of writing. It’s also worth noting that Fati only played 437 minutes across seven appearances for Barcelona before he suffered his season-ending injury. Stats are league only for each player.
