Comparing James Maddison’s 2020-21 stats to Arsenal’s current midfielders

Quick Reads

Arsenal are in the market for an attacking midfielder after a disappointing 2020-21 season and are now reportedly considering a move for the Leicester creator James Maddison.

The news of the interest came from the @TheAFCBell Twitter account, which first broke Thomas Partey’s arrival at the Emirates last summer.

There will, though, be barriers to overcome for Arteta’s side if they want to bring him in – most notably the fee that Leicester would demand for the England international.

The judgement Arsenal have to make is how much Maddison will add to their attacking output and whether that makes such an investment worthwhile.

So, is he the right man? Here, we’ve compared Maddison’s 2020-21 stats to Arsenal’s other attacking midfielders last season.

Note: stats are all for league games and Martin Odegaard’s numbers are only for his league games for Arsenal.
