Comparing Jesse Lingard’s 2020-21 attacking stats with Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have made progress this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and if reports are to believed, exciting summer business might see them improve even further next season.

They’re on track for only their second runner-up finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, and as strong favourites in the upcoming Europa League final against Villarreal, they could pick up their first piece of silverware since 2017.

Optimism has been in short supply at Old Trafford in recent seasons, but the club finally appears on an upward trajectory, while pulling off a marquee signing or two could see them close the gap on champions Manchester City.

Having failed to sign him last summer, once again Jadon Sancho’s name dominates the gossip columns, after  Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc hinted there’s a gentleman’s agreement to let him go for the right price this summer.

Sancho has been in sensational form of late, and the latest reports in The Sun have suggested United will look to use his England team-mate Jesse Lingard – whose value has skyrocketed in a successful half-season loan at West Ham – as a makeweight in a potential deal.

Here’s how the two players compare this season, with Lingard’s Premier League numbers at West Ham alongside the corresponding output of Sancho in the Bundesliga.
