Comparing Kounde & Gimenez’s 2020-21 stats to Chelsea’s current CBs
Chelsea may have tightened up significantly under Thomas Tuchel, but reports suggest they’re still in the market for another centre back.
Tuchel is reportedly looking to Spain for high-class defensive options. Sevilla’s Jules Kounde is Chelsea’s first-choice option, according to La Razon. Starting 25 of the club’s 30 La Liga matches, Konde has impressed as Sevilla find themselves six points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, having also been linked with Manchester United.
Another option is Atletico’s own Jose Gimenez. Chelsea have been reportedly interested before but could renew their pursuit of the Uruguay international. He’s out of contract in 2023, and Atletico could cash in on the 26-year-old this summer unless he signs a new deal.
We’ve compared Kounde and Gimenez’s 2020-21 La Liga stats with the corresponding Premier League numbers of Chelsea’s current centre-back options.
