Comparing Liverpool’s record with and without Jordan Henderson since 18-19
After being a much-maligned figure during his first few years at the club, Jordan Henderson has become a key player for Liverpool over the last two seasons.
Henderson has captained the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory over the last 13 months and is a strong contender for the PFA Player of Year award.
We’ve compared Liverpool’s record with the midfielder in the starting XI to without him since the start of the 2018-19 season.
With Henderson starting
Points per game: 2.38
Win rate: 73.8%
Goals per game: 1.98
Goals against per game: 0.7
Without Henderson starting
Points per game: 2.13
Win rate: 67.4%
Goals per game: 2.2
Goals against per game: 1.18
As the stats show, Liverpool have a higher win rate and pick up more points per game with Henderson in the team, although this does not take into account standard of opposition.
Jurgen Klopp’s side actually average more goals per game when the midfielder is left out of the starting line-up, but they also concede a lot more goals without him.
