Comparing Marcus Rashford’s Man Utd record at 22 to Cristiano Ronaldo’s

Quick Reads

Marcus Rashford has become one of the best forwards in the Premier League at Manchester United, inevitably drawing comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo

After joining United in 2003, Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and the Champions League before joining Real Madrid in an £80million deal.

The Red Devils struggled to fill the void left by his departure but Rashford has gone from strength to strength since his impressive breakthrough season under Louis van Gaal in 2015-16.

Courtesy of Transfermarkt, we’ve compared Rashford’s United stats before turning 23 to Ronaldo’s United stats at the same stage of his career to see how the two compare.

Marcus Rashford

Goals: 74

As the stats show, Ronaldo and Rashford had an pretty similar record in all competitions during their first few years in the United first team.

The England international is scoring goals for United on a slightly more regular basis than Ronaldo achieved at the same age.

However, Ronaldo did provide more assists for his team-mates and they both provide a direct goal contribution every 126 minutes.

The 23-year-old will now be looking to follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps and take his game to the next level.
