Five of the best debut goals scored on the Premier League opening weekend

Quick Reads

The Premier League made a welcome return to our lives on Friday night as Manchester United defeated Leicester at Old Trafford.

Each team restarts their campaign this weekend after a shorter break due to the World Cup, with a number of players making their debuts for their new clubs.

We’ve captured the best of those players from the Premier League and abroad to round up some of the best goals scored by players making their first appearance for their new sides.

Richarlison

Everton’s £40million summer buy wasn’t one to crumple under the pressure of his price tag, scoring both Everton’s goals in their opening day draw with Wolves.

His first, scored after a scramble in the area, saw him score with his first shot for the club – having not scored in his last 53 shots for former club Watford – before netting this beauty to restore his side’s lead.

Andres Iniesta

Everything about this goal will make you happy. The build up, the execution of the turn, rounding the keeper when he didn’t really need to. Even Lukas Podolski being involved.

The fact it’s Iniesta’s first game for Vissel Kobe just makes it all the better.

Gonzalo Higuain

Ok, technically this is still a friendly we know, but this ain’t half bad for a first shot for your new club, four minutes into a game at the Bernabeu – against your former employers.

Raul Jimenez

After Richarlison had added his second for Everton, Wolves had work to do to make their return to the Premier League a point-winning one.

He netted this very decent header from a peach of a delivery from Ruben Neves – who scored a pretty decent goal himself earlier on.

Wahbi Khazri

After a spell at Sunderland which promised so much but delivered so little, Khazri returned to France this summer, joining St Etienne for an undisclosed fee.

He opened the scoring in their 2-1 victory over Guingamp in Ligue 1 this weekend, with a pretty sweet volley which is very very pleasing to watch.
