10 of Jack Grealish’s funniest moments from UCL chaos to encyclopaedias
Everybody loves Manchester City and England forward Jack Grealish – and that’s not surprising considering these seven laugh-out-loud moments.
Grealish made his name at Aston Villa, before joining Pep Guardiola’s City in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £100million.
And, despite a difficult first season in Manchester, the 27-year-old is now one of City’s automatic starters as the Premier League champions added the FA Cup and Champions League trophies to their 2022-23 tally.
But Grealish is one of few players to transcend football in Britain. Whether that’s down to his massive calves, his legion of female fans or his endearing personality, the Birmingham native is known by millions.
We’ve identified 10 moments that have elevated a young man from Solihull to the status of a national treasure.
Starting the party early
City had just clinched the Champions League and Grealish started the party almost instantly with an improvised conga and a bucket full of Heineken.
Even though he's a City player, I really like Jack Grealish 🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/yaTdcAAVKJ

5am
Such is Grealish’s commitment to the sesh that, while the rest of his team-mates had changed into their own threads, he carried on partying in his full City kit as the sun rose over Istanbul. Hero.
Every team needs a Jack Grealish.
In uniform partying.

Learning Chinese
In fairness, we’d also be a soggy mess if we attempted to learn Chinese from scratch like Grealish here. But we don’t possess the infectious doggedness of the England star.
Of all people why would they choose Grealish to do this?
So good 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/M4nag1Eh23

‘What I did on my holidays’
This is such a flashback to GCSE French that we’re resisting the urge to run to the nearest boulangerie to order a pain au chocolat.
On the other end of the spectrum, his description of Qatar sounded like a 6 year old writing about their holiday… pic.twitter.com/3Q11BQAMBi

‘Sliced veg’
A spoonerism is an occurrence in speech in which corresponding consonants, vowels, or morphemes are switched (see metathesis) between two words in a phrase.
But this was no slip-up from Grealish. Come on!
Jack Grealish cemented his status as a fan favourite, telling an interviewer that England were “the best thing since sliced veg”.
He later denied it, insisting he’d said “sliced bread”.
But he definitely didn’t… pic.twitter.com/ls0qAJKXyG

Spelling test
There’s nothing more terrifying as an adult human as your basic intelligence being questioned; on-the-spot mathematics, general knowledge tests from your young child or being asked to spell the simplest words.
But Grealish made a whole roast dinner of his attempt to spell ‘rhythm’ during last year’s World Cup.
In hindsight, it was a little cruel of England’s premier brainbox, Bukayo “3 A*s” Saka, to challenge his teammates to a spelling bee.
After cackling at James Maddison’s attempt at “aesthetic”, Saka ordered Grealish to spell “rhythm”.
A puzzled Jack plumped for “R-H-Y-M-T-H”. pic.twitter.com/yugHG3PWoX

Stefan Savic
For bringing ‘Broad Street on a Saturday night’ vibes to the Spanish capital, Grealish needs to be appointed Knight of the Realm. Immediately.
When a fight broke out during a Champions League game, Grealish told Atletico Madrid’s Stefan Savic, “you’re a cunt”, earning himself a yank on his famous locks.
