Comparing Liverpool’s front three with Real Madrid’s in 2021-22
Liverpool and Real Madrid both have incredible attacking options at their disposal – but how did they compare in 2021-22?
While Liverpool missed out on the PremierLeague title after fishing a point behind Manchester City, they did win the League Cup and FA Cup.
Madrid strolled to the La Liga title and they will now come up against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Champions League final at the Stade de France.
While both sides have great defenders and midfielders, all eyes will be on the attacking players. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema have all enjoyed brilliant seasons and are being tipped for the Ballon d’Or.
Using stats from transfermarkt, we’ve compared Liverpool’s front three with Madrid’s front three in 2021-22. Note: we’ve picked the front three for both clubs by looking at who played the most minutes. Unsurprisingly, Gareth Bale doesn’t make the cut.
As the stats show, Liverpool’s front three scored more goals and more non-penalty goals over the course of the season. But Madrid’s front three average a direct goal contribution on a more regular basis due to their ridiculous number of assists.
