Man Utd’s 10 top scorers under Erik ten Hag: McTominay, Rashford, Fernandes…
Since arriving at Manchester United in the summer of 2022 there have been 21 players that have hit the back of the net under Erik ten Hag, but who makes it into the top 10?
The Dutch boss did a fine job during his debut season in the hot seat as United won the Carabao Cup and finished in the top four. He has run into some troubles during his second season, but we’re sure Ten Hag will get United back on track eventually.
We’ve looked through the records under Ten Hag and have picked out United’s top 10 scorers under the Dutch boss across all competitions.
Note: If two players are tied on goals, we’ve put them in order of who has the better goals-per-minute ratio.
10. Rasmus Hojlund – 5 goals
United fans are banking on Hojlund being their new number-nine for the next decade to come.
While Hojlund is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League, he’s looked razor-sharp in Europe. Come the end of the season, we’d expect United’s £64million signing to jump up a few places on this list.
9. Fred – 6 goals
The Brazilian midfielder called it quits on his United career this summer and managed to bow out on a high note. Fred enjoyed his best goalscoring season for United under Ten Hag with six strikes in the 2022-23 campaign.
Nowadays you can catch him playing for Fenerbahce alongside former United academy graduate Joshua King. It already seems as if the 30-year-old is a popular face in Turkey.
6. Jadon Sancho – 7 goals
Given the standoff between Ten Hag and Sancho, the winger might not get the chance to add to his tally. Sancho did enjoy his best goalscoring season at United under Ten Hag, but it is obvious that all is not well with the former Borussia Dortmund star.
Following a public falling out with the boss, Sancho has been forced to train away from the first-team and an exit in January looks more than likely. It’s a real shame things haven’t clicked for the 23-year-old at Old Trafford.
7. Alejandro Garnacho – 8 goals
The Argentine teenager has really come into his own under Ten Hag and there’s still plenty more to come from him. Garnacho is often used as a super-sub, but it surely won’t be long until he nails down a consistent starting spot.
The 19-year-old has the personality to back up his skills and scored the Goal of the Season with a stunning overhead kick against Everton. No wonder he is already a fan favourite with the Old Trafford faithful.
6. Antony – 8 goals
After enjoying some success together at Ajax, Ten Hag decided to bring Antony along with him to the Premier League. He certainly didn’t come cheap as the Red Devils splashed a reported £82million on the Brazilian.
It’s fair to say that Antony isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but a return of eight goals in 52 isn’t as disastrous as some people would make out. He’s got the eye for a long-range goal and will be hoping for more strikes in the years to come.
5. Scott McTominay – 9 goals
McTominay has transformed into the Scottish Zidane of late as he currently finds himself in fine form for club and country. The 26-year-old played a key role in Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualification and he’s been just as clutch for United of late – in the goals department, at least.
His late brace against Brentford managed to rescue all three points for Ten Hag’s side and he scored a double in their victory over Chelsea too. What a guy.

4. Anthony Martial – 11 goals
Since joining United back in 2015–16, the French forward has averaged a goal every 3.5 matches which isn’t too shabby for someone who has never quite hit the heights that were expected.
Martial has spent plenty of time on the treatment table over the last few years, but he is one of only four players to have scored double figures under Ten Hag so far.
3. Casemiro – 11 goals
While Casemiro isn’t exactly known for his goalscoring prowess, he sure knows how to hit them. The tenacious Brazilian midfielder made quite the impact last season and he certainly has a knack of turning up on the big occasions.
He’s already into double figures under Ten Hag, with arguably his most important goal coming in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.
2. Bruno Fernandes – 19 goals
Since his arrival in January 2020, Fernandes regularly ranks among United’s top scorers. The 29-year-old is one of the first names on the teamsheet under Ten Hag and he was even handed the captain’s armband by the Dutch boss.
In 79 appearances under Ten Hag, Fernandes has scored 19 goals and has also chipped in with 20 assists. He’ll no doubt have a crucial role to play this season.
1. Marcus Rashford – 32 goals
Who else? Rashford manages to blow the rest of his teammates out of the water with almost double the return of any other player under Ten Hag so far.
The England international caught fire in the 2022-23 campaign and was a key factor in United getting over the line in the race for the top four. While he has struggled to replicate the same form this season, Ten Hag still has faith in the 25-year-old.
“Of course, everyone knows the qualities of him, but also the opposition knows the qualities [of him],” Ten Hag told MUTV. “But if Rashy is doing the things right and the team is doing the things right, we will put him in the right places and then it is up to him.
“We have seen in the last [few] weeks that he is coming in the good positions, now he is struggling, but this will pass because everyone knows his qualities.”
RASHFORDDDDDDDD!
