Comparing Marcus Rashford’s record under Ten Hag to Van Gaal, Mourinho & Solskjaer

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is one of the most in-form players in European football right now and the form he is showcasing under Erik ten Hag has never been seen before.

The 25-year-old has been front and centre of Ten Hag’s new project and his form since the World Cup especially has been astounding to see.

Rashford wasn’t always in this sparking form though as he has endured some barren spells under various managers. Last season for example was a particularly tricky one for the forward.

Ralf Rangnick struggled to get the best out of the forward and Rashford was clearly still struggling for confidence after a series of niggling injuries.

Rashford was handed his first United appearance under Louis van Gaal and he made an instant impact by scoring a brace on his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

The majority of Rashford’s games have come under the management of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, it is Ten Hag who has managed to unlock his best form yet.

“I’m not Harry Potter,” claimed the United manager, in reference to Rashford’s magical form. “It’s just confidence. Every player has to make and get his own confidence.

“He fought for this, he invested in this. Of course with my coaching staff, we bring in structures, especially in the way of play that give him routines that he needs to get into the right position.

“But finally, it’s up to him, and when the player has the confidence then I’m convinced, in the way we are working – the way of play is most important but the environment and the culture are also important – then the player can perform at his best.

“It’s obvious that Marcus is in really good form. From day to day, from training to training, from game to game, the routines are coming in.”

We’ve had a closer look at Rashford and compared his record under each of his Man United managers. Note: we have only included permanent managers.
