There’s an interesting mix of the usual suspects and some unexpected names when you take a look through the players with the most goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues – Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 – in 2023-24 so far.

Stars from Inter, Liverpool, PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City make the top 10 list for goal contributions, alongside one or two names you might not expect to see. We’ve taken a closer look at full list for goal contributions across the major European leagues this season.

Note: if two players are tied on goal contributions, we’ve ordered them by their ratio of goals and assists per minute.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins has registered 12 goal contributions but misses out on our top 10 due to his slightly inferior goal-or-assist-per-minute ranking.

10. Lois Openda – 12 (9 goals, 3 assists)

RB Leipzig have been plenty of fun to watch this season and Openda has been their main talisman. Fresh off a prolific campaign with Lens which saw him score 21 goals, Openda looks as sharp as ever in his new surroundings.

The 23-year-old is currently averaging a goal or assist every 76.5 minutes in the Bundesliga and he looks like a great signing for Marco Rose’s side.

9. Victor Boniface – 12 (7 goals, 5 assists)

Nigeria are blessed with elite strikers right now. Victor Osimhen might just have competition with the spot up top.

Boniface could well be 2023-24’s breakthrough star. The focal point of Xabi Alonso’s wonderfully watchable Bayer Leverkusen side, Bayern Munich and Harry Kane might just have serious competition in the Bundesliga this year.

8. Jude Bellingham – 13 (11 goals, 2 assists)

It’s Bellingham’s world, we’re just living in it.

Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid celebrates the victory during the Spanish league, La Liga EA Sports, football match played between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at Estadi Olimpic on October 28, 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.

7. Leroy Sane – 14 (8 goals, 6 assists)

The German winger is probably playing the best football of his career right now. Under Thomas Tuchel, Sane has alternated between the left and right-hand side and he’s been absolutely ruthless.

“When he plays with freedom and desire, he makes the difference,” Tuchel told DAZN. “He can also lead the way. Physically he is a machine, he can dominate the league.”

Since leaving Manchester City, Sane hasn’t managed to hit double figures for goals in any of his three previous seasons with Bayern. That’s surely about to change this season.

6. Lautaro Martinez – 14 (13 goals, 1 assist)

Inter are enjoying one of their best-ever starts to a Serie A campaign and their Argentinian World Cup winner up top is a major reason why.

The Serie A giants failed to get old strike partner Romelu Lukaku back on loan, but recent evidence suggests that Martinez alone is more than enough firepower. He’s scored or assisted in the vast majority of his appearances this season and is averaging a goal or assist every 97.3 minutes in the Italian top flight.

5. Mohamed Salah – 15 (10 goals, 5 assists)

Liverpool reportedly turned down a world-record bid from Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad for their Egyptian King, and he’s repaying their faith in droves.

Slowly but surely, Liverpool are looking like challengers once again. They boast a six game unbeaten record in the Premier League and Salah is once again playing a starring role.

4. Kylian Mbappe – 16 (14 goals, 2 assists)

Mbappe is now undoubtedly PSG’s main man following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The 24-year-old is PSG’s all-time top goalscorer and he looks sharper than ever right now. As things stand, Mbappe is averaging a goal contribution in Ligue 1 every 60.6 minutes and is on track to have one of his best seasons yet.

3. Serhou Guirassy – 16 (15 goals, 1 assist)

It’s really refreshing to see a name that few have heard of near the top of this list of €100million megastars.

It remains to be seen if Guirassy can keep up this consistency, but we’re loving seeing the 27-year-old Guinean suddenly hit the form of his life for relative minnows Stuttgart.

Guirassy has averaged a goal or assist every 43.44 minutes in 2023-24 so far. Kylian who?

2. Erling Haaland – 17 (14 goals, 3 assists)

The Norwegian came out on top of this chart last season by some distance – thanks way more to his goalscoring than his assisting – and he’s certainly in the running to do so again in 2023-24.

Haaland is inevitable. He’s scored in all but four of his Premier League appearances this season and only one player in Europe has more.

1. Harry Kane – 23 (18 goals, 5 assists)

The England captain is loving life in the Bundesliga right now. Kane is on track to break all sorts of goalscoring records at Bayern and another Golden Boot is surely in the pipeline.

We can’t get enough of the England skipper right now.
