Lionel Messi recently recorded his 300th assist at club level and it will come as little surprise to learn that he makes an appearance on this list.
Using data from FBref, we’ve compiled the top 10 players with the most assists in Europe’s top five leagues this season. Note: Dominik Szoboszlai and Jamal Musiala each have eight assists but miss out due to an inferior assist-per-90 ratio.
=7. Alassane Plea (8 assists)
The versatile French forward has been a useful player for Borussia Monchengladbach and he ranks as one of the most creative players in the Bundesliga this season.
We’re still trying to figure out how he pulled off this ridiculous finish.

=7. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (8 assists)
Lazio have been fun to watch in Serie A this season and Milinkovic-Savic has been in fine form this year. The 28-year-old has 12 goal contributions in the league, with eight of those being assists.
The top four race is incredibly close in Serie A this season and Lazio will be relying on Milinkovic-Savic’s creativity to get them over the line.
=7. Antoine Griezmann (8 assists)
The Frenchman has looked back to his best this season for club and country. Griezmann was one of the stars of the 2022 World Cup and he’s been just as useful for Atletico Madrid.
With eight league goals and eight assists, Griezmann has been involved in 42% of the goals that Atletico Madrid have scored this season.

=7. Jonathan Clauss (8 assists)
Marseille intend on pushing PSG all the way in Ligue 1 this season and Clauss has been their most creative outlet. The 30-year-old has played as a wing-back on either side and is the only defender to make the top 10.
=5. Bukayo Saka (9 assists)
Mikel Arteta has pushed his Arsenal squad to a new level and Saka in particular has thrived during this campaign. This season has already been his most productive in terms of goal involvements and he’s constantly getting better.
The 21-year-old has been one of the best players in the Premier League this year and he will have a key role to play in the final few months of the season.
=5. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (9 assists)
Napoli have been the entertainers of Europe this season and they currently hold an 18-point lead over Inter Milan at the top of Serie A.
Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen have formed a lethal partnership recently and we can’t get enough of them at the moment. They could even cause a stir in the Champions League this year too.

4. Randal Kolo Muani (10 assists)
The French playmaker is having the season of his life for Eintracht Frankfurt right now. With 11 league goals and 10 assists in 23 appearances, Kolo Muani has been one of the most prolific players in Europe.
3. Neymar (11 assists)
After sustaining a serious ankle injury, Neymar has been ruled out of the remainder of the season for PSG. Prior to the injury setback, Neymar was in the form of his life.
In the league alone he has 24 goal contributions in just 20 appearances. Hopefully, he comes back just as strong next season.

2. Kevin De Bruyne (12 assists)
Having De Bruyne and Erling Haaland in the same team should be illegal as the Belgian playmaker has thrived this season with Manchester City’s new number nine.
He is leading the way in the Premier League right now for assists with 12, but there is one other player in Europe who just pips him to the top spot.
1. Lionel Messi (13 assists)
No surprises here as Messi ranks as the most creative player in Europe once again. He is averaging 1.18 goal contributions per game in Ligue 1 this season and when he’s in the mood, there’s no stopping him.
Messi provided his 300th club career assist at the weekend with this fine pass to Kylian Mbappe against Brest.
