Ranking every Chelsea player by how much they earn in 2022-23

Chelsea haven’t been shy about splashing the cash this season and it’s no surprise to learn that Graham Potter’s squad includes some of the most handsomely-paid players in the world.

Since Todd Boehly’s takeover last May, Chelsea have spent an eye-watering £539million in the transfer market, of which £286million was splurged in January in an attempt to rescue an ailing campaign.

This strategy has seen mixed success; the Blues remain firmly in mid-table but progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals with an impressive victory over Borussia Dortmund.

But something that cannot be denied is that Chelsea’s wage bill has spiralled under Boehly. While the January arrivals signed long-term contracts on slightly reduced wages, signings from summer 2022 make up a significant proportion of the club’s top 10 highest earners.

It’s said that Chelsea’s annual wage bill for the playing staff is £206,180,000, which works out at £3,965,000 per week. But where exactly is all that money going? We’ve taken a closer look at the top earners in Potter’s squad, and which individuals are on comparatively low salaries.

Note: all figures come via football finance website Capology, who themselves state that: “All salary figures are estimates as actual salaries may vary. Unverified players are calculated using algorithms, or sourced from reporting that has not been confirmed yet. Coverage may be limited or incomplete.”

Football clubs don’t publically disclose the full wages of their individual players, so these are the best-surmised figures.

It’s worth taking such numbers with a pinch of salt, especially as figures for four Chelsea players aren’t available.

Take a look at how every Chelsea first-teamer compares in terms of their (gross) weekly wages:
