Comparing Raphinha’s 2021-22 stats to Barcelona’s current forwards

Barcelona are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of 2022-23 and have identified Leeds United’s Raphinha as one of their top targets.

Raphinha, who joined Leeds from Rennes in 2020, has established himself as one of the best wingers in the Premier League over the last two seasons.

His performances at Elland Road have attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, who have both submitted bids for him this summer.

Chelsea were able to agree to a £55 million deal with Leeds but they have yet to reach an agreement with the Brazil international. Barcelona have been able to agree personal terms with Raphinha but they are yet to meet Leeds’ valuation.

“We have spoken with Leeds,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently told Sport. “I don’t think it will offend them [to say so] because we have spoken personally [with Raphinha] and we are in communication, but there are also other clubs that want Raphinha and have made their offers.”

“We know that the player would like to come to Barcelona.”

Despite their financial troubles, Barcelona are reportedly ready to make an offer worth up to £60million for Raphinha.

We’ve compared Raphinha’s 2021-22 Premier League stats to the corresponding La Liga data of Memphis Depay, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, Ousmane Dembele and Ez Abde.

Note: we’ve not included Martin Braithwaite or Ansu Fati due to a lack of first-team minutes in La Liga in 2021-22. Also, Dembele has technically left Barcelona, but he could still sign a new contract so we’ve included him here.
