The 10 highest scoring players in a Premier League season: Haaland…
Erling Haaland has already broken several goalscoring records in his short Premier League career so far and the Manchester City striker isn’t done yet.
We’ve taken a look at the 10 highest scoring players in a single Premier League season to see where Haaland currently ranks alongside some greats of the past.
The City forward has scored 30 goals in 27 league appearances which is absolutely ridiculous. He has scored four Premier League hat-tricks and has put away 40% of the goals City have scored this season.
If Haaland was to score at his current rate of 1.11 goals per game over an entire season, he would end the campaign with 42 goals to his name.
The Norwegian robot was on hand to score a brace against Southampton at the weekend and Pep Guardiola has been full of praise for the forward.
“Erling is arriving in the toughest league in the world. I can talk as I’ve been in other leagues and doing what he has done is remarkable.
“Erling is here for these types of games, it was a little bit hard but he has the ability from an incredible assist from Kevin [De Bruyne] to break the game.
“He is so competitive but to reach the Cristano and Messi levels is a lot of work. They don’t get injured. Erling is tall, he’s huge, he needs a lot of care, physios, not just one but a lot of people.
“He has an incredible mindset. His head is in the right place. He lives to be professional. I know his reaction when he misses goals but he’s only frustrated for five minutes. His mindset comes back in the right position and he knows what he has to do.”
WHAT. A. GOAL. 😲

Haaland will now have his sights set on the Premier League goalscoring record for a single season. Currently, both Alan Shearer and Andy Cole hold that title with 34 goals each.
It is also worth noting that both Shearer and Cole set the Premier League record when there were 22 teams in the league. As this is the case, they got to play 42 games per season, instead of 38.
In the 20-league format, Mohamed Salah holds the record with 32 goals. His debut season for Liverpool in 2017-18 was off the charts as he broke all sorts of records.
Elsewhere on the list, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez have also scored more than 30 goals in a league season. Ronaldo even won his first Ballon d’Or off the back of his prolific 2007–08 campaign.
We have put together a list of the 10 players with the most goals in a single Premier League campaign. We’re expecting Haaland to top this list soon enough.
