The 10 players with the best goal per game ratio in Europe in 2022-23
Scoring goals is said to be the hardest thing in football, but players from PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid have found the back of the net with ease this season.
A new era of forwards now seems to be upon us as the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are starting to take over when it comes to goalscoring.
It will come as no surprise to learn that the pair of them rank in the top two for the best best goal per game ratio this season. Haaland has wasted no time in settling into his new surroundings in Manchester.
The 22-year-old is the outright top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues and he also boasts the best scoring ratio. If he continues at his current rate, he is bound to break all sorts of goalscoring records.
Mbappe isn’t far behind though and his goals per game ratio of 0.95 is especially impressive as he isn’t an out-and-out striker. Mbappe will often play on the left-hand side and drift inside during the game.
Elsewhere in Europe, Victor Osimhen is having a superb season for Napoli. The Italian club sit 19 points clear at the top of Serie A and Osimhen has been one of the most prolific forwards in Europe.
Since leaving Arsenal, Alexandre Lacazette has rekindled his goalscoring touch for Lyon. He recently scored his 150th goal for the club and is now Lyon’s second all-time top scorer.
While there are plenty of new kids on the block, there is still a place for the legends of the game. The likes of Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema also make an appearance on the list.
In the league, Messi has already more than doubled his goal tally from last season. To go along with his excellent goalscoring record, he also ranks as one of the top assist providers in Europe.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney is having a superb year and he also makes an appearance on the list. With 17 goals in all competitions, this has been his most prolific season in the top flight.
