The 20 Premier League clubs to have won the most points this decade
The Premier League has changed a fair bit this decade – and that is reflected when looking at the teams to have won the most points and the most points per game since 2010.
Liverpool end 2019 with a 13-point lead at the top of the table, an achievement that seemed unthinkable back in 2010, while absolutely nobody would have predicted Leicester City as one of the title winners over the decade.
Few would have expected Wolves and Sheffield United to be seventh and eighth in terms of points per game either, let alone Arsenal 12th, but things can change quickly in football. Here are the teams to have picked up most points in the Premier League since 2010.
Total points
Only seven teams have spent the entire decade in the Premier League, while West Ham were absent for only one season, 2011-12.
Newcastle United (324) and Stoke City (323) complete the top 10 of clubs to have played the most Premier League fixtures since 2010, and that is reflected in the overall table since 2010.
The only other team to have played more than 300 games in the competition since then are West Brom (304), but they have accumulated 21 points fewer than Southampton despite playing 18 more games.
Manchester City sit comfortably top of the 10-year table having won the title four times and finished second twice across the decade, while Manchester United are second despite finishing in the top two on only one occasion since 2013.
Only eight points separate Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal behind third-placed Chelsea, with Everton unsurprisingly a fair bit further adrift of those six.
1. Manchester City – 818 points
2. Manchester United – 747 points
3. Chelsea – 740 points
4. Liverpool – 710 points
5. Tottenham – 703 points
6. Arsenal – 702 points
7. Everton – 567 points
8. West Ham – 403 points
9. Newcastle United – 391 points
10. Stoke City – 391 points
11. Southampton – 363 points
12. West Brom – 342 points
13. Swansea City – 312 points
14. Leicester City – 307 points
15. Crystal Palace – 296 points
16. Sunderland – 291 points
17. Aston Villa – 267 points
18. Fulham – 221 points
19. Burnley – 201 points
20. Bournemouth – 197 points
251 – Only Manchester United (255 in the 2000s) have won more top-flight league matches in England within a single decade than Manchester City did in the 2010s (251). Imperious. #Opta2010s pic.twitter.com/Luh2Z1T5RR

Points per game
Manchester City’s emergence as a major force this decade is even better reflected by their points-per-game record, while Leicester City’s title win in 2016 and subsequent good form puts them top of the ‘others’ pile behind the seven clubs to have spent the entire 10 years in the Premier League.
Sheffield United’s remarkable start to this season puts them in ninth, albeit with only 20 games played in the Premier League, while Wolves, Blackburn and Watford all make the top 20 for points per game.
