A celebration of the brilliant Arsenal Invincibles – The Broken Metatarsal

Arsenal going a full season unbeaten in the Premier League is undoubtedly one of the lasting memories of the 2000s – and we remember that incredible achievement in the opening episode of our new podcast, The Broken Metatarsal.

Every Thursday on The Broken Metatarsal, host Rich Williams and Planet Football Editor Mark Holmes will be joined by a celebrity guest and a footballer to discuss the most memorable moments of a brilliant decade.

Presenter and Arsenal fan Alex Brooker joins Rich, Mark and producer Pete Farries on this first episode, while Graham Stack is on the phone to reveal what it was like being a part of that incredible squad and how stressful it was acting as back-up goalkeeper to Big Mad Jens Lehmann.

Highlights include Alex’s admission that he had ‘Champions 04’ printed on the back of his Arsenal shirt before they’d actually won the title, Stack remembering when Arsene Wenger confiscated his Werther’s Originals and our oft-told story about Gilberto the anteater.

We finish our first ever episode of The Broken Metatarsal with a game of Football Fact or Fiction in which Rich tries to guess which of the three unlikely stories about Arsenal that season is in fact true.

If you love 2000s football as much as we do, you can find us on Audioboom and subscribe in all the usual places on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, CastBox, Deezer and RadioPublic.
