Friendly match between Netherlands and Denmark. Denmark player Andreas Skov Olsen, Denmark player Christian Eriksen Netherlands - Denmark, 26 March 2022

14 things we loved this weekend: Salah, Messi, Eriksen, Gazza & more

It might have been a relatively quiet international break weekend, but we still enjoyed some sensational football moments.

From World Cup qualifiers in Africa and South America on Friday night to some excellent non-league action on Saturday, there were also some enjoyable moments in international friendlies and legends’ charity matches. Who doesn’t enjoy watching Stevie G and Gazza roll back the years?

Here are 14 things we loved from this weekend.

San Marino

Actually a lovely finish.

Lionel Messi

Appreciate his greatness while he’s still playing.

Mohamed Salah

Technically an own goal, but Salah made it happen. Advantage Egypt.

Christian Eriksen

Just wonderful.

Steven Gerrard

He’s not lost it.

Jamie Carragher

He didn’t do this nearly enough when he was a professional.

Paul Gascoigne

Goal of the weekend.

Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney picked the right club.

Lech Poznan

Okay, it was shot over a week ago, but we can’t stop watching.

Steven Bergwijn

What a lovely finish.

Chiedozie Ogbene

Sorry Gazza, this is the actual goal of the weekend.

Jacob Ramsey

Pick that one out.

Virgil van Dijk

What a bloke.

Alphonso Davies

We can’t wait to see Canada at the World Cup.
