14 things we loved this weekend: Kagawa, Caicedo, Guardiola, Szoboszlai…

You’ve all been very patient throughout a summer with no football and now you’re being rewarded.

The Women’s World Cup has well and truly burst into life. Pre-season is coming to a close ahead of the Community Shield and return of the Football League next weekend, while it’s now less than fortnight until the Premier League kicks off again.

Here are 14 of our favourite moments from the weekend.

Shinji Kagawa

Remember Kagawa? He’s back. Scoring blooters against PSG.

Pep Guardiola

A lovely response.

Lauren James

Woof.

Sophia Braun

One of the best goals of the Women’s World Cup so far.

Fermin Lopez

The La Masia graduate announced himself against the most perfect opponents.

Dominik Szoboszlai

We reckon Liverpool’s new signing will slot into Premier League life just fine.

Linda Caicedo

Three years after being diagnosed with cancer, Caicedo provided one of the most heart-warming footballing moments you’re ever likely to see.

Manuela Vanegas

Colombia’s victory over Germany was one of the biggest shocks in Women’s World Cup history.

Jude Bellingham

You don’t get scenes like these in Stourbridge.

Roma

Stop that Roma.

Ezri Konsa

Since when did Konsa become prime Messi?

Sophie Roman Haug

Marco van Basten would’ve been proud of this volley…

Diogo Dalot

What a hit son.

Bury AFC

A crowd of 5,000 watched Bury in their first league match at Gigg Lane in four years. They beat Glossop North End 5-1.
