16 things we loved this weekend: Garnacho, Ronaldo, Griezmann, Mead

Club football returned to action this weekend, and it didn’t disappoint.

There was some tasty across Europe on Friday night, before Erling Haaland scored his 50th Premier League goal in style in the weekend’s marquee fixture between Manchester City and Liverpool. Arsenal moved top of the Premier League, Aston Villa moved into the top four, while PSG went top of Ligue 1 with a stylish mauling of Monaco. Meanwhile in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich’s title race kept up its relentless pace.

Here are 16 moments we loved from this weekend.

Alejandro Garnacho

We couldn’t start anywhere else, could we?

Kobbie Mainoo

That good on his full Premier League debut. Just daft.

Thiago Silva

Sorry, Thiago. You’re a legendary defender but this was slapstick in its purest form.

Jude Bellingham

Brutally clinical.

Umar Sadiq

This looked a shoo-in for goal of the weekend before Garnacho did a madness.

Antoine Griezmann

An exceptional header from a player with a low-key shout to be the best in Europe right now.

Jose Luis Morales

We’d 100% get vertigo and fall on our arse if this was us.

Ousmane Dembele

How’s your touch?

Romelu Lukaku x Paolo Dybala

This could be a beautiful partnership.

Tony Stewart

A fever dream involving Steve Bruce playing for Liverpool in the 1996 FA Cup final. Bizarre.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Maximum composure.

Beth Mead

Her first goal since her ACL injury. A stunner.

Claudio Echeverri

One-third of a truly ridiculous hat-trick. Starboy.

This AC Milan leg sleeve

Exceptional work. Sore and itchy just looking at it, though.

Darwin Nunez

Pep Guardiola was baffled. Box office.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s boots

Straight heat. Expect these to fly off the shelves.
